Ghost Town: Tumco

Location: California    Genre: Mining Town ruins

The ruins of Tumco, on the California-Arizona border, near Yuma, are a great example of a ghost town that is more like an archaeological site than a visual “town site.” While there are still some structures standing, much of the town needs to be imagined from the subtle hints that remain. The BLM has put up some interpretive signage to help visitors explore the site via a short-ish hike around the area where the town stood, which is off-limits for motorized vehicle access (see the Full Article link below for more details and photos).
